Welcome to Community Church of Honolulu
Our Mission
Welcome to the online home of Community Church of Honolulu! We are working hard to build a community of justice and grace grounded in the teachings of Jesus.
Here at CCH you will be welcomed by a congregation of people from all walks of life, babies to members in their 90s, newcomers and founding members of the church, people who feel pretty certain about their faith and a lot of us who bring our questions with us every single week. We stick together because we believe that communities of committed people can change the world to be more just, more loving, more grace-filled, and we want to be part of making that happen.
Youβll hear a welcome in worship that includes the phrase, βWherever you are on your journey of life, you are welcome here.β And we mean thatβno exceptions. We hope to welcome you in person or online soon!

Building Improvement Plan Survey
We need your opinion! The Community Church of Honolulu is working to become a hub of justice, love, and grace for both our congregation and the wider community. In 2024, the Council allocated $500,000 from our reserve funds for campus improvements in pursuit of this vision. Projects already completed include the Sanctuary A/V, extensive roof repairs and sealing, plumbing fixes, air conditioner upgrades, sanctuary carpeting, and a whole host of maintenance items. Thanks to generous donors, approximately $195,000 remains for the Building Improvement Plan (BIP). Your input is now vital as Council reworks and prioritizes the next phase of major capital projects to ensure they align with our congregational vision. Please fill out the survey by clicking here by November 7 to help shape the future of our campus.

Rev. Dr. Amy Butler, Senior Minister
Welcome to CCH! My name is Amy Butler and I have had the great honor of serving the congregation at Community Church as Designated Pastor. July 1, 2025 we begin a new journey together as congregation and Settled Senior Minister. Whenever I look at a church website, I want to know what motivates the leaders, so hereβs a little background about me.
I am a person of faith who has always been fascinated by this question: βWhat does it take to build a community that can change the world?β CCH is gifted to be living that grand experiment in our island home, a culture in which the values of Hawaiβi infuse who we are: Aloha (love, respect) LΕkahi (harmony, unity) MΔlama (to care for, to honor) Pono (goodness, morality) Poβokela (greatest, to excel).
I grew up in Hawaiβi and these values inform my work. My Christian faith has provided a professional framework for exploring the possibility and promise of that question. Since 2000 Iβve had the great honor of serving and loving four faith communities in various pastoral roles: St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans; Calvary Baptist Church in Washington, DC; and The Riverside Church in the City of New York.; National City Christian Church in Washington, DC. You can find out more about my background here.
To now be back in these beautiful islands with the lovely, lovely congregation at Community Church of Honolulu is a gift beyond words. Here I have found a community of people who welcome questions; who tenaciously build community; who value legacy while welcoming change; who are willing to take a chance on each other. We all know that being human is hard. Living in relationship is hard. Being the church is often really challenging. And, love wins in the end.
If you are looking for a community in which you will be welcomed unconditionally, loved lavishly, and challenged in ways that deepen your connection to God and to the people around you, I hope youβll visit Community Church of Honolulu. And if youβd like to connect with me personally, please send me an email and letβs chat!
Me ke aloha and welcome!
